Randy Book is the Business Development Realtor Recruitment Manager for Sutton Group West Coast Realty currently responsible for recruiting/hiring REALTORS into the 12 Greater Vancouver/Fraser Valley Offices. He has held a Real Estate Trading Services Licence in B.C. for 29 years.
Back in 1986 I read "Think and Grow Rich" and after that I decided to change from a JOB to a career in Real Estate Sales. With little knowledge or skills about sales, I spent alot of time learning how to build my business by regularly attending training seminars and networking with many veteran real estate salespeople. I had made up my mind that I never was going back to my old JOB...never! This helped me when times in business were tough going and made me work harder. Now 29 years later I know it was the right decision.
I started out with a large franchise and in 1988, my first full year in the business, with many thanks to my clients, I closed 38 deals and earned Office Rookie of the Year. Throughout the years in sales, with the continued support of clients, friends, family and some of those I worked with in the industry, I have received other industry awards.
Along the way I also acted as a relief managing broker for the brokerage I worked for.
From 2006-2010 I worked as an Instractor for the BC Real Estate Association where I taught a section of the Applied Post Licensing Course to REALTORS getting into the Real Estate Sales Business.
In 2008 I accepted a Managing Broker post at Sutton Group where I spent a year recruiting, training and coaching over 300 salespeople at Sutton Killarney and Sutton Langara. As the brokerage grew from 2 to 5 offices the opportunity arose and I accepted my current position and I have had the pleasure of meeting and hiring over 600 salespeople throughout our now 25 offices. I enjoy connecting and building relationships with salespeople that are currently working or who are new to the field and I make myself available to any that are open to learning how they can work harder and smarter in the real estate business. My goal is to maintain a continued high level of service in the transition before and after to all salespeople that I personally meet and hire at any one of our offices.
I am a big believer that continuing education can only enhance your skills and I continue to search out different offerings that may be of interest. In 1995 I received a Certificate in Property Management from Vancouver Community College, then in 1997 I became a Candidate Member of the Appraisal Institute of Canada as a Canadian Residential Appraiser (CRA).
I have worked with my wife, Linda, who is also a REALTOR for over 20 years. We have 2 adult children Mercedes and Lynden, and our 4 legged wonderdog Cheyenne. I enjoy fishing, gardening, cycling, walking and watching both the children play hockey and lacrosse. I have enjoyed being an active volunteer in Burnaby over the past 20 years coaching hockey and lacrosse for both male and female athletes, scouting leader and a member of the 'Doing It For The Kids' with the '24 Hour Relay'.
